We will consider safety at every stage of design, construction and operation of the pool. We will take professional advice from experts in maintaining clean and healthy water and preventing water accidents as well as other hazards. Our pool will nurture health and wellbeing from outdoor swimming.

Inclusive

Our natural pool will be guided by the needs and wishes of Hebden Royd’s diverse community, engaging with different interest groups in inclusive ways. We want our natural swimming pool to be accessible for people of all ages and mobility as well as different incomes. We will try to site the pool near our main centres of population and design it for people’s different access needs.

Sustainable

Our pool will be designed for sustainability with low running costs, minimal maintenance and low energy input. Through using natural processes to clean the water rather than chemicals, our pool will provide a specialised habitat for plants and animals. We will develop a financially sustainable business plan that makes a proper balance between financial, environmental and social costs and benefits.

Beautiful

Our natural pool will respect and enhance Calderdale’s natural beauty and heritage. The water will be clear and surrounded by nature and the facility designed to be unobtrusive. We want people to leave the facility thinking “What a beautiful tranquil spot”.
